Microchipping

Microchipping

Central Kentucky Veterinary Services offers microchip identification for pets provided by HomeAgain®. A microchip is a tiny electronic chip, about the size of a grain of rice. The microchip is implanted under the skin in between the shoulder blades. Each chip is encoded with a unique number and is a permanent form of identification. This procedure is a quick injection, like a vaccination, performed by our trained staff and can be done at any age. Once your pet is microchipped, he or she is entered into a national database. Scanners at veterinary clinics and animal shelters can identify this number and allows the owner to be found and contacted through the registry. This resource enables lost pets to be reunited with owners every day.
