When boarding your pet at Central Kentucky Veterinary Services, we provide bedding and feed Science Diet® food during your pet’s stay. However, you may choose to bring a few items from home, such as bedding and toys, to help your pet feel more relaxed. If your pet is on a special diet, it’s a good idea to bring that as well to ensure they receive their preferred food. Our goal is to provide a stress-free experience for your pet while you’re away. If you have specific questions or concerns about your pet’s care during their stay, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, and our staff will be happy to assist you.

What is included in a professional dental cleaning for pets?

A professional dental cleaning at Central Kentucky Veterinary Services involves cleaning your pet’s teeth using an ultrasonic scaler to remove tartar and calculus, both visible and beneath the gumline. We also perform dental radiographs (x-rays) to evaluate the mouth’s structures. After cleaning, teeth are polished to prevent tartar formation, and a fluoride treatment is applied for added protection.

What is the process for euthanasia, and can it be done at home?

We understand that euthanasia is a difficult decision. We offer both in-clinic and at-home euthanasia services to accommodate your preferences. In both settings, the process is conducted with the utmost respect, compassion, and care. Our team will explain the procedure, and you can choose the location that feels most comfortable for you and your pet.

Do you offer cremation services for pets?

Yes, we provide both private and mass cremation services for pets. If home burial is not an option, cremation allows for a dignified farewell. We can discuss the available options and assist you in making the choice that best suits your needs and wishes.

What types of surgical procedures do you perform?

At Central Kentucky Veterinary Services, we offer a wide range of surgical procedures, including spaying and neutering, soft tissue surgeries (such as laceration repair, tumor removal, and hernia repair), orthopedic surgeries (including fracture repair and ACL surgery), and various other surgeries. Our experienced surgeons are trained to provide the best care possible.

When should I start vaccinating my puppy or kitten, and how often should they be vaccinated?

Vaccinations should begin early during the puppy or kitten stage to provide the best protection against diseases. The vaccination schedule will vary depending on your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, and risk factors. Our knowledgeable staff will provide personalized guidance on when and how often your pet should be vaccinated to ensure their well-being.
